GL11 Family Fun Day June 25th

Snakes and Ladders, Punch and Ponies… just some of the fun at GL11’s Family Fun Day

GL11 Community Hub was bursting at the seams on it’s Family Fun Day last Sunday, the 25th June, as part of their funding from the Big Lottery’s Celebrate Fund. Approximately 300 residents from Cam and Dursley – children, parents, grandparents all piled in to the Community Hub in Fairmead, to enjoy a traditional day of fun for all the family in the heart of Cam.

Children and parents waited patiently to enjoy a free pony ride from Newbrook Farm in Uley, the children were far braver than their parents – holding or stroking snakes and tarantulas, yet all the family members were excited to see the emergency vehicles turn up, who called away briefly for an actual emergency, yet returned to put the smiles back on the children’s faces so they could sit in the truck, try on a helmet, or wash the local cars with the hose!

The bouncy castle, Punch and Judy, Magic Show and the variety of pocket money stalls were a huge hit too, where the grown-ups could relax and enjoy the BBQ and ice creams served throughout the afternoon.

GL11’s Family Co-ordinator, Colette Etheridge said “We were delighted that the day was so popular with local families. We hope everyone enjoyed the day as much as we did, and we look forward to seeing some of the families again at our Family Friday sessions. “

GL11 would like to thank many of the local businesses and organisations that helped make the day so successful. Newbrook Farm, Dursley Bouncy Castles, Tom Foolery, Cam Butchers, Roaming Reptiles, Dursley Fire and Police Services, Sarah Mitchell-Stead (facepainting), Tesco Superstore (Cam) and the volunteers from One Church, Cam who helped throughout the afternoon.
