Digital Volunteers

As more and more of our lives are spent online we want to ensure that no one in Cam and Dursley gets left behind.

The role of the Digital Volunteer is to offer friendly and easy to understand one-to-one support for people who may be new to IT. This could be anything from switching on a computer for the first time to setting up an email account, using BBC iPlayer or introducing them to Zoom speak to relatives.

Personal qualities and experience

  • Friendly and engaging

  • Good IT skills (but you don’t have to be an expert!)

  • Able to explain things in a clear and simple way

  • Patient and understanding

  • Reliable and trustworthy

  • Good at problem solving

  • Volunteers must be willing to work within guidelines and always follow confidentiality policies

Tasks and activities

  • Depends what the person needs!

In return, as a GL11 Community Hub Volunteer, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Support other members of the Cam and Dursley community.

  • Be part of a friendly team and be supported in your role.

  • Meet new people and learn new skills.

  • Access training and development as appropriate
